William Teague (circa 1960s)
WILLIAM TEAGUE had a distinguished career as concert organist, teacher, organistchoirmaster and recording artist. He spent his entire adult life in Shreveport, Louisiana, where his contributions to that city’s musical life have made a lasting impact. Our first interview took place on July 21, 2004 in the sacristy of St. Ann’s by the Sea Chapel in Kennebunkport, Maine where Dr. Teague was summer organist at the time. Subsequent interviews were held at the console of the 1959 Aeolian-Skinner organ at St. Mark’s Cathedral in Shreveport, summer of 2011, and at the Teague residence in June and July of 2013.
